Get Involved

Volunteers are the life-blood of Foothills Community Care. Without them we simply would not exist. Our volunteers not only do a fabulous job getting essential tasks done, but contribute significantly to the vibrancy of our Community Meals.

We firmly believe that providing a space for people to volunteer in a meaningful way within their own local community is vital for healthy communities.

Different ways that volunteers can contribute to Foothills Community Care’s work include:

• Helping to cook or set up/clean up or sit down and chat with people on Monday nights at Upwey Community Meal Night
• Helping to cook or set up/clean up or sit down and chat with people on Wednesday nights at Ferntree Gully Community Meal Night
• Helping set up on Christmas eve for our Christmas Day Lunch
• Helping to cook or set up/clean up or sit down and chat with people on Christmas Day at our Christmas Day Lunch
• Help prepare food and cook at our monthly Community Casserole cook ups in Upwey
• Helping to deliver frozen home cooked meals one afternoon per week for our Community Casseroles in the Hills
• Help prepare food, serve and clean up at our 6 times per year Knox Citizenship Ceremony Suppers, Wantirna South

…and much more.

Foothills Community Care volunteers give anywhere between 4 hours a week to two hours a month to their work. Each is characterized by a real desire to connect with people who are struggling, and a willingness to come alongside and journey with others, in a shared experience of transformation that creates community.

School Students Volunteering
We especially give space for school ages children both primary and secondary to come along and volunteer with us.  We have many different partnerships with local schools with students participating in a number of different leadership and community awards needing to volunteer. We firmly believe that providing a space for young people to volunteer meaningfully is an important part of community life.

We invite you to partner with us to provide hope and hospitality and to build community to those on the margins.

Via our partnership with Community Care we are able to receive donations and offer tax deductibility.

Your donations will enable us to continue to serve over 100+ meals per week through our community meals programs. It will continue to help us make Christmas special for the 230+ people who would normally be spending Christmas alone. And it will enable us to continue to deliver 150+ meals to homes per week to people who need some extra support.
